Vintage Children’s Games

Games have always made childhood fun, so why not come and see what children of the past played with?

Our display includes a collection of various card games, noise makers and stick games that make youth fun in the past. Come and take a look. (Apologies for the blurry picture)

History of the Telephone

Come out to the museum and see a new exhibit featuring a collection of magneto wall phones dating from the late 1880’s to 1950’s.

Read about the evolution of the first phone’s installed in Canada and events such as the first international submarine cable installed in 1181.

Also read about who actually invented the first telephone and placed the first phone call.

Drumbo Lions Club

The Lions Club is celebrating 60 years in Drumbo this year, uniting the local community to make Drumbo and the world a better place.

Come out and see a display of banners and international pins celebrating this great organization.

Drumbo Cobbler

The shoemaker shop in Drumbo was started in the 1850’s but was destroyed by fire in 1862. The new building also housed a general store along with the shoemaker shop and during WWI was used as a first aid station.

Come and see the display of vintage boots & shoes and learn a bit about shoemaking in Drumbo and our local shoemaker, Mr. George Harrison.

Banking in Drumbo

Did you know there has been a bank in Drumbo since 1898? That makes it 118 years this year.

Come on out to the museum and see a collection of coins and bank notes from Canada and around the world and learn a bit about banking in Drumbo.

Upcoming Events at the DDHS

Here are some upcoming events at the DDHS:

Drumbo village-wide yard sale on Sat., May 23.

We are having a Canada Day basket draw again – the basket will be at Drumbo Variety until Sun, June 28 – tickets available from all members as well as at Drumbo Variety -$2.00.

The draw will be made on Sun., June 28th at Morrow’s during our Sausage BBQ – 10:00 a..m. to 4:00 p.m.
